Death masks have played a major role in history in which family members casted the faces of their recently deceased loved ones as a form of memorial. The death masks at the time were created using various materials such as plaster in which the faces of the deceased will forever be remembered in sculpture form.
Here are just some of the silicone death masks that I have made out of my own face over the years as a traditional artist before I became a full on 3D Generalist years later. These are the plain ones with barely no "modifications" to them. I made them using ecoflex silicone 50. As for the mold of my face, I made it out of plaster bandages so that it has that rudimentary imperfect look to it. The cast of my face in the end is then airbrushed using a silicone paint base mixed with silicone pigments.
